Engineers Without Borders - Penn State

Engineers Without Border is a national non-profit, humanitarian, service organization that is focused on implementing sustainable engineering project in underdeveloped communities.

As an newly establish chapter, the Penn State division is taking their first step in the project process. Departing from Newark on July 17th, a group of 8 travelers from the club, will being going on an assessment trip to Sierra Leone, Africa.

Close to Freetown, the town of Baoma is in desperate need of assistance. In their application to EWB, they stated that they need a latrine in their school building. Implementing a latrine in their school can greatly improve the attendance, because children will no longer be demoralized when they have to use the bush.

On their assessment trip the team will build a strong relationship with the community, asses the school building and its surrounds, explore the neighboring communities and begin to plan possible projects to improve the community.
